How Farm-to-Fork

Blossomed...

About

Farm-to-Fork Frederick brings the fresh bounty of Frederick County farms, restaurants, and vineyards direct to the tables
of its great, diverse eating establishments in an 11-day celebration of community and locally sourced food.

Inspired by the "locavore" movement sweeping the nation,
Farm-to-Fork Frederick founder Miriam Nasuti set out to sow
the seeds of a sustainable local food economy in the City of Frederick and Frederick County by cultivating stronger ties between the county's deep-rooted farming community and
its vibrant, growing culinary marketplace.

The fruits of Nasuti’s labors culminated the summer of 2011
in Loudoun County, when participating restaurants showcased some of the county’s best locally grown and raised produce, beef, poultry, and wine, brew, and spirits. The Farm-to-Fork program “sprouted" to Frederick County summer 2013 and returns this year from August 28 through Labor Day September 7, 2015. During this time, restaurant patrons may order from locally sourced Farm-to-Fork Frederick menus that feature at least 60% local ingredients and a selection of wonderful Frederick County brews and wines.

Founder, Farm-to-Fork Frederick

Miriam Nasuti’s career started in community relations and public affairs at KYW-TV 3, the CBS News affiliate in Philadelphia. There she worked on many culinary events and fundraisers such as the popular, annual week-long Book and the Cook event which brought in Chefs from around the United States and paired them with Chefs at Philadelphia restaurants, SCANtastic, an annual culinary celebration that benefits the Stop Child Abuse Now organization affiliated with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the 'Valentine to the Market' benefit which raised funds to restore The Reading Terminal Market, and Philadelphia Magazine’s annual 'Best of Philly' gathering which recognized all the winners, especially the restaurants who provided extensive tastings to party patrons each year! Her career evolved to other businesses and disciplines where she demonstrated her skills in community and public relations, advertising, charitable and event fundraising, and special event planning from concept through implementation.

Nasuti started Domenicon Marketing 19 years ago to assist clients with their marketing, fundraising, and publicity needs.

In 2010, the movie Food, Inc. had an enormous impact on Nasuti, after which she decided to devote her background and experience helping small family-owned farms directly connect with their community’s restaurant chefs and owners. Based on her new understanding, Nasuti conceived this particular Farm-to-Fork culinary initiative: a multi-day, multi-restaurant project, and first launched Farm-to-Fork Loudoun in 2011 then brought it to Frederick, Maryland in 2013. The project continues to ‘blossom and grow’ in both those markets, with plans to ‘sprout’ to new markets in the future.

Nasuti brings a strong work ethic, passion, and commitment to help ensure success for all project participants and her company, Domenicon Marketing, is now solely focused on her Farm-to-Fork projects.
